Barley news World: World barley trade forecast reduced in USDA’s April report

World barley trade forecast for 2019/20 is now reduced to 26.767 mln tonnes from last month’s 27.313 mln tonnes, USDA said in its April report (the estimate for the barley trade in 2018/19 is 25.644 mln tonnes).

Export forecast is down for Russia (-500 thousand tonnes to 4.1 mln) on trade restrictions, the analyst said.

World barley production is forecast this month at 155.871 mln tonnes vs. 155.67 mln tonnes in the March report and 138.764 mln tonnes in 2018/19.

Total consumption is seen at 152.568 mln tonnes vs. 152.592 mln and 140.287 mln, respectively.

Ending stocks are forecast at 21.167 mln tonnes vs. 20.932 mln in March and 17.864 mln tonnes in 2018/19.
