EU: Barley exports in 2019/20 reach 5.37 mln tonnes so far

Barley exports from the European Union in the 2019/20 season that started last July had reached 5.37 million tonnes by April 5, up 52pc from the year-earlier period, official EU data showed on April 6.

Soft wheat exports were 24.78 million tonnes - 66pc above the volume cleared by March 31 last year, the data showed.

EU 2019/20 maize imports stood at 16.05 million tonnes, down 15pc.

The European Commission is continuing to include Britain in its weekly grain export and import data during the transition period following Britain's exit from the bloc.
