USA: D.G. Yuengling and Son Inc heads top 50 craft breweries in the US

The Brewers Association—the not-for-profit trade association dedicated to small and independent American brewers—on April 1 released its annual list of the top 50 producing craft brewing companies and overall brewing companies in the U.S., based on beer sales volume. Of the top 50 overall brewing companies, 40 were small and independent craft brewing companies.

“Although 2020 will be a markedly different year than 2019 for the craft brewing market, these companies are well positioned to help the craft category weather the current market uncertainty and rebound with the flavor, variety, and innovation that beer lovers have come to expect from small brewers,” said Bart Watson, chief economist, Brewers Association.

The top 5 craft breweries, according to the Association are:

1. D.G. Yuengling and Son Inc - Pottsville, PA
2. Boston Beer Co – Boston, MA
3. Sierra Nevada Brewing Co – Chico, CA
4. New Belgium Brewing Co - Fort Collins, CO and San Francisco, CA
5. Duvel Moortgat - Paso Robles, CA, Kansas City, MO, Cooperstown, NY

The top 5 overall beer companies in the US are:

1. Anheuser-Busch InBev
2. Molson Coors
3. Constellation Brands
4. Heineken USA
5. Pabst Brewing Co
