Brewing news UK: AB InBev launches Corona in draught format across UK pubs and bars

AB InBev’s Budweiser Brewing Group UK & Ireland subsidiary has announced that its Mexican beer brand Corona will be available in draught format across pubs and bars in the UK, from October 2019, FoodBev.com reported.

The launch of the ‘new, desirable’ draught format follows the success of its 25-venue trial and Budweiser Brewing Group believes it will help increase both volume and value sales for customers.

In attempt to differentiate itself from competitors, the beer tower features a metal and wood construct with a glass viewing pane that shows a lightly effervescing liquid to highlight Corona’s apparent refreshing nature.

Aligned to the brand’s efforts to address marine plastic pollution, the new font tower is plastic-free. This follows Corona’s move to plastic-free six-pack rings last November.

Attached to the side of the tower is a lime holder, to continue the lime ritual which is integral to the Corona serve. The beer will be available as a pint or half-pint, served with a lime segment on the edge of the newly designed glass that is modelled on the bottle.

Rory McLellan, trade sales director at Budweiser Brewing Group, said: “Corona draught is the perfect addition to a venue’s offering – it meets consumer demand for premium experiences, as well as our customers’ needs to drive increased value sales, improve their category mix and provide a super-premium execution.

“From the trial we’ve seen Corona draught has added value and volume sales to the much-loved Corona in bottle. Corona has strong brand equity, resulting in ardent consumer preference – and therefore purchase.

“At BBG we’re passionate about helping our customers deliver the best in terms of liquid, serve and experience, and Corona draught does just that.”
