Brewing news USA, GA: Elsewhere Brewing Co. aiming at next year opening in Atlanta

Husband-and-wife team Samuel and Sara Kazmer next year will open Elsewhere Brewing Co. in Grant Park, Atlanta, What Now Atlanta reported on October 8.

The craft brewpub will take residence in space formerly planned for Ateliea House of Rum in The Beacon Atlanta.

Ronford Howell, owner of the would-be rum distillery, in March told What Now Atlanta (WNA) in confidence that he would not move the project forward because of “capital restraints.”

Howell’s news is now public knowledge by way of a statement on the Ateliea website.

Elsewhere Brewing Co. will focus on “lower-gravity, sessionable classics inspired by the beers of Continental Europe,” Samuel Kazmer told WNA in an email.

Brews could include a Bohemian Pilsner, Dark Czech Lager, Belgian Saison, Bavarian Hefeweizen, German Alt, Gose, and more, he said.

Elsewhere Brewing Co. will also open with an IPA and Pale Ale option but “these styles will be our platform for experimentation with new hops/hop combinations, varying filtration, playing with fermentation temperature and yeast to produce interesting flavor profiles, etc.”

The company will also release bottle conditioned beers seasonally, inspired bu the couple’s favorite lambics from Brussels, barley wines from England, Biere de Gardes from Northern France, Brett Ales from Wallonia, and Trappist beers from throughout Belgium.

In addition to its beer, Elsewhere Brewing Co. will be obtaining a distillers license to manufacture cocktails for non-beer drinkers.

“We believe a strong differentiating factor for us will be our taproom experience,” Kazmer said.

“After spending countless hours in Belgian cafes, Bavarian beer gardens, and English Pubs we started to notice a trend: comfortable spaces make you want to hang around longer. Whether it’s a comfortable bar stool (back and cushion included), good acoustics, aesthetic lighting, good food, engaging events, or knowledgeable service we believe that a brewery taproom needs to be more than just beer.”

On the food side of things, Elsewhere Brewing Co. will offer “Argentine Street Food,” served counter-service-style.

“We fell in love with the simplicity of the cuisine in Argentina and the aesthetic of the cooking techniques,” Kazmer said.

Patagonian Chef Richard Oyarzun is consulting on the menu and Adrian Villarreal of Midtown’s Rreal Tacos is designing the kitchen among other things.

Elsewhere Brewing Co. will begin its build-out in January 2020 and is aiming for a June 1, 2020 grand opening.
