Barley news Russia & Ukraine: Both countries see barley exports drop in July-February 2018/19

Russia’s barley exports in July 2018 - February 2019 amounted to 3.2 mln tonnes versus 4.0 mln tonnes over the same period last season, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their March report.

Ukraine shipped a total of 3.3 mln tonnes vs 4.0 mln in July 2017 - February 2018.

Offering prices came down to USD 220,- FOB Black Sea ports, in line with general world market trends. However, both countries have sold the bulk of their barley surplus, particularly the Ukraine cannot offer panamax size cargoes any more.

Snow cover was good in central and northern Russia, and winter temperatures remained mild in southern Russia and Ukraine. Spring work has started, present conditions promise plentiful grain crops once more, with the usual effect on world markets.
