Brewing news USA, PA: Chatty Monks Brewing Company celebrates opening of new production facility in Reading

Beer-brewing continues to be a booming business in Berks County.

Nearly four years after opening a brewpub on Penn Avenue in West Reading, Chatty Monks Brewing Company has found the need to expand, WFMZ Allentown reported on June 4.

The company is celebrating the opening of a production facility at 101 North Carroll Street in southwest Reading.

A block party kicked things off on June 2. Chatty Monks is also celebrating with the sale of a new beer it brewed in collaboration with Free Will Brewing Company in Perkasie, Bucks County.

The new location, which once served as home to the Van Bennett Food Company, features several new fermenting tanks, a large walk-in cooler for storage, and space to age certain types of beers in wooden barrels.

The brewery will allow Chatty Monks to boost its capacity, thus meeting a growing demand for its beer at its original location in West Reading as well as at other venues in and around Berks, including FirstEnergy Stadium.
