EU: Spring plantings almost done in Denmark and Sweden

Spring barley plantings in Denmark and South Sweden are more or less done whereas Sweden still has about 50% to do, GrainCom said in their latest newsletter on April 27.

Plantings in UK are still not finished yet due to weather conditions and it is not unlikely that some of the spring barley area will be lost.

There was some more activity this week on both old and new crop as the current price levels seem to generate more buying interest.

Logistics in France remains a big issue with train traffic heavily hurt by the strike and high demand for trucks and barges leads to higher prices.
