USA, TX: Pedernales Brewing Co. purchased by Uncle Billys Brewery at the Celis Brewery in Austin
Since its founding in 2012, Fredericksburg-based Pedernales Brewing Co. has earned scores of loyal drinkers with a lineup of beers that range from classic German styles to a celebrity-endorsed brew bearing Robert Earl Keens name. And as of Feb. 28, those suds have officially moved to Austin, mySanAntonio.com reported.
Uncle Billys Brewery at the Celis Brewery in Austin has purchased the Pedernales brand and will continue to brew its Pedernales Classic, Lobo and Robert Earl Keen recipes in Austin. John West has helped shape many of those beers as head brewer at Pedernales, and he came along with the purchase, joining the Celis Brewery crew to ensure the flavors dont stray.
We are really proud of the business we built and the top-quality beers we brewed at Pedernales Brewing Co., Lee Hereford, founder of Pedernales Brewing Co., said in a news release. It is time for the next chapter in our brewerys story. Were thrilled to find another like-minded brewery in Uncle Billys that will take the reins, continue our mission of brewing world-class beers and take production to the next level.
Uncle Billys was founded in 2006 and came into new ownership itself last year. Beer production was moved from its original Barton Springs facility to the newly opened Celis Brewery last summer. Uncle Billys managing partner Bob Leggett saw the purchase Pedernales purchase as a natural fit, with its lineup of German-style beers complementing Uncle Billys mainly English-style offerings.
Pedernales is one of the most critically acclaimed breweries in Texas, with a great lineup of well-made and true-to-style beers, Leggett said in the release. Just as we have been able to expand the distribution of Uncle Billys beers through our partnership at Celis Brewery, we are confident that we can expand the reach of the Lobo and Robert Earl Keen beers as well.
