Brewing news Canada, ON: Brazil’s Cervejaria OverHop launching production of its beers in Toronto

The Canadian off-shoot of an award-winning Brazilian craft brewery will be launching its first brands next week in Toronto, Canadian Beer News reported on December 1.

Cervejaria OverHop opened in 2016 in Rio de Janerio, and within its first year, two of its beers won medals in the beer awards at the Brazilian edition of Mondial de la Biere. This led to a recently released collaboration with Quebec’s Brasserie Harricana, and a decision to expand further into the Canadian market with an official presence here.

OverHop Brewing Canada is being headed up by Patricia Rios and Tatiana Fulton, both of whom have relocated to Toronto from Brazil to oversee the project. Its beers are being brewed at Common Good Brewing in Scarborough for now, with plans to open a physical location sometime in 2018.
The Canadian branch of OverHop will be starting out with two brands – OneLove Double IPA (9% abv, 90 IBU), and Hazy New England IPA (6.5% abv, 50 IBU) – both based on recipes from the original brewery. A number of other brands are being planned for future release, including a Canadian version of the OverLab series of single-hop IPAs that has been popular in Brazil.

The official launch party for OverHop Canada will be taking place next Thursday December 7th at The Craft Brasserie (107 Atlantic Ave., Toronto). Also serving as a six month anniversary party for local Brazilian newspaper and website Jornal de Toronto, the event will start at 6:30 PM, and will feature the debut of OneLove and Hazy on tap.

OverHop beers will be available on draught at select bars in Ontario, and in cans at the Common Good retail store.
