USA, ME: Black Bear Brewing Company to open new brewpub in Bangor
One of the first taprooms to open in Orono is now coming to Bangor, WABI reported on September 15.
Black Bear Brewing Company is opening a new location on Exchange Street.
Owner Tim Gallon grew up here and knew his hometown was the perfect spot to expand.
Black Bear Brewing now joins the Bangor Symphony Orchestra and Thompson Hamel in the block of buildings recently purchased by ANM Properties.
Gallon says it will be fairly similar to their Orono location.
"So we'll make most of the beer there and bring it down here but we also want to do pilot batches down here. So we'll have a small brewing system and we can sort of pilot recipes," said Tim Gallon, Owner of Black Bear Brewing Co. "Other than that, we just want a comfortable, nice atmosphere that people like to come into and have a great pint of craft beer."
"Our revitalization of this block is helping bring exchange street back into downtown," said James Strout, Project Manager at ANM Properties. "We're very excited about being a part of all the great things that are happening in downtown Bangor."
ANM Properties says this prime real estate has sat unoccupied for nearly ten years.
They're excited to continue to develop it in the future.
