France: Barley crop estimate corrected, exports to neighbouring countries could total 3 mln tonnes

FranceAgriMer has corrected crop figures for winter barley to 9.6 and spring barley to 2.65 mln tonnes, H. M. Gauger GmbH reported earlier in September.

Quality is generally good, except proteins are on the high side in the east and north, there were incidents of sprouted grains a well.

Because of tight supplies elsewhere France can possibly export up to 2 mln tonnes of winter and 1 mln tonnes of spring malting barley, mostly to Belgium, Netherlands and Germany, the Gauger analysts believe.
