Germany: Tettnangs hop area up 5.6% this year
According to official data, the total 2017 hop acreage in Tettnang - the most southern hop growing area - has been expanded by 72 ha (+5.6%), totalling 1,353.47 ha, the Hop Growers Association Tettnang reported on June 1.
The largest acreage increases are for varieties Herkules (+35 ha) and Tettnanger (+15 ha).
The fine aroma variety Tettnanger remains the most cultivated variety with 747 ha (55% of the area).
Besides, there is an increase for new flavour hops like Ariana, Callista, Monroe or Amarillo, the Association reported.
22 different hop varieties are currently cultivated in Tettnang.
