Russia: Beer market share down to 39.9% in 2016
According to Rosstat data, vodkas share of Russias total alcohol market increased last year to the detriment of beer, Profibeer reported.
According to the official statistics agency, vodka accounted for 38.9% of the nations total alcohol sales last year versus 38.2% in 2015.
Beer share at the same time dropped from 40.4% in 2015 to 39.9% last year. Beer sales (excluding beer cocktails) dropped by 3.7% to 78.6 mln hl.
The share of beer-based drinks declined, too: last year it was 3% vs. 3.1% the year before. Sales of beer-based drinks fell by 5.6% to 6 mln hl, Rosstat reported.
