Heineken plans to brew China-made, Heineken-branded beer within the next six months, according to press reports. The China Daily reported yesterday that the Dutch brewer hopes to produce Heineken at its plant in Shanghai.
Last month, Heineken Asia Pacific Breweries, a joint venture between Heineken and Asia Pacific Breweries, acquired a 21.6% stake in Guangdong Brewery in China. Plans to consolidate brewing operations with Guangdong have not been finalised yet, the paper reports.
Heineken has breweries in Shanghai and Hainan, southern China, while Guangdong has mainland breweries in Shenzhen and Shantou. Neither of Heinekens breweries currently brews the companys beer brand.
