The Czech malting industry has sold 60 70,000 tonnes to Russia and recently 20,000 tonnes to Thailand. In both cases sales prices were EUR 20-30 per ton below calculated prices of EU maltsters, in the case of Thailand (EUR 280 CIF, in bulk in container) also far below Australian cost prices. Both EU and Australian maltsters had trouble to maintain their market shares in Thailand. It is reported that Australia finally sold 50 - 55,000 tonnes, the EU 75,000 and the Czechs 20,000 tonnes to Beer Thai, the largest buyer in Thailand.
