Brewing news Canada: Molson does not see impact from Edmonton strike

Molson Coors Brewing Co. said a strike at a brewery in Edmonton, Alberta should not impact its ability to ship beer to customers as the summer selling season heats up, Reuters reported June 5.

Workers at the brewery have been on strike since last Wednesday after a collective bargaining agreement expired and negotiations were unsuccessful, a company executive said during an investor presentation broadcast over the Internet.

The executive said that Molson Coors is working to reach a deal. Molson Coors should be able to supply the Alberta market with supplies from other breweries so that customers will have ample supplies, he said.

Shares of Molson Coors, whose beers include Molson Canadian and Coors Light, slipped 42 cents to $91.24 in midday trading on the New York Stock Exchange.

During the presentation, Molson Coors executives said that their top priorities include continuing to invest behind the company's brands and cutting administrative costs.
