UK: Suffolk-based St Peters Brewery to invest £3m in a new brewery site
Suffolk-based St Peters Brewery, which was founded just over a decade ago, is to invest £3m in a new brewery site to treble production, Morning Advertiser reported March 20.
The brewery in South Elmham, near Bungay, has outgrown its current 13th-Century building and is seeking a new site.
The business was placed on the market in 2005 with a £20m price tag, but was later withdrawn from sale.
Managing director Colin Cordy told the Eastern Daily Press: Our big challenge is to keep meeting demand and the next natural step is to build a completely new brewery. The process would take up to a year and our aim is to start production at the new site about two and a half to three years from now.
St Peters Brewery, founded in 1996 by John Murphy, is based in a half-moated manor house. Last year, it was awarded a Queens Award for Enterprise to celebrate Her Majestys 80th birthday.
