Russia: “Volga” brewery plans to triple beer production in 2007
“Volga” brewery intends to increase beer output 2.75 times up to 2.2 million hl of beer until 2007, CEO Ghya Meshi stated July 05. As it was earlier mentioned, Heineken NV plans to invest over EUR60 million in “Volga” reconstructions. The brewery won’t however renounce to its domestic brand portfolio including “Rusichi” and “Okskoye”. According to Meshi, “Volga” owns 40% of Nizhny Novgorod beer market, The Union of Russian Brewers communicated July 06.
“Volga” is a member of Heineken group in Russia since 2004 along with other 9 breweries, including “Heineken Brewery” (Saint Petersburg), “Shihan” (Sterlitamak), “Sobol-beer” (Novosibirsk).
