Canada: Barley crop forecast for 2025 remains at 8.8 mln tonnes
Canadas barley crop25 forecast remains at 8.8 mln tonnes, with moisture conditions improving. Rain during June/July is critical but a positive crop25 start is expected, RMI Analytics said in their latest report.
The US tariff threat continues to hang over markets, but farmers in Canada and USA are expected to maintain normal rotations.
Export prices have firmed slightly for both malting and feed barley, in alignment to global price direction. Farmer selling of crop24 is somewhat limited, and contracting of crop25 malting barley is quite low.
Domestic feed barley prices are up slightly, with limited farmer selling, while cattle feeders are mostly well covered at the same time.
