EU: Malt export trade continues to face weak demand
A weak demand situation continues to hang over Europes malt export trade and is impacting crop24 shipments, RMI Analytics said in their early November report.
Through week #18 (since July 1st), the pace of malt exports has slowed. This aligns to weak beer volumes, in destination markets like south-east Asia, as reported recently by major brewers. The current shipping season was performing well but over the past weeks has slipped lower. This leaves the current export levels at 5% behind crop23 levels, and 13% behind crop22 and trending toward the COVID pandemic impacted crop21, the lowest of the four years.
