North America: Canada barley production forecast steady at 7.8 mln tonnes
Looking ahead to crop25, rainfall across North Americas main barley-growing areas has been mixed with western Canada, eastern Montana and North Dakota missing large amounts while Idaho, Wyoming, and Colorado received moisture, RMI Analytics said in their November report.
For crop24, Canadas barley production forecast is steady at 7.8 mln tonnes. Malting barley selections are faced with lower test weights and varied protein, but ample supply for domestic demand. Further, exports shipments are on a good pace, up 0.1 mln tonnes with stocks down accordingly. Any further demand for exports (e.g. China) or domestic malt, tightens considerably the supply and demand balance for malting barley.
Combined Canada and the USA production and stocks are the third lowest in 10+ years, the analysts said.
