USA, CO: Yetters Brewing Company on track to open in Greeley by mid-July
Daniel Yetter has been waiting a year to enjoy a beer with his closest friends and his friends-to-be at his downtown Greeley brewery, the Greeley Tribune reported on June 12.
Since spring 2023, Yetter has been going through the ebbs and flows of trying to open the new location for Yetters Brewing Company, 1011 9th Ave. From the paperwork, permits, licenses, remodeling and everything else needed, Yetter feels optimistic he’s nearing the light at the end of the tunnel.
“It’s been a very stressful, hard operation,” he said. “But I do feel like the city of Greeley is excited for it.”
Yetter said it’s looking like everything is on track for the brewery to open in mid-July, and even though he’s gotten his hopes up previously about when it’ll open, he has a good feeling this time around.
“We’re definitely closer than we’ve ever been,” Yetter said.
When it does open, customers can expect a lot of American lagers on tap, he said. Yetter wants the brewery to be a lager house that’s a mixture of “Cheers” and an homage to his upbringing. Yetter grew up on a farm outside of Ault, so the brewery will have pictures of his childhood farm and historic Greeley. Accompanying the farm feel, it’ll foster an environment where you “walk in as a stranger but leave as a family member.”
Along with meeting and greeting new customers, Yetter said his regulars from when he owned Green Earth Brewing Company are eager to sit down and enjoy a few rounds at the new location.
Yetter started working at Green Earth Brewing with owner Scott Pell for two years. In 2022, Pell sold the brewery to Yetter. In March 2023, Yetter and his father, David, purchased the new location and closed Green Earth.
Yetter has been a homebrewer for most of his life, but it was a stay in Antigua, Guatemala, from 2015-19 that encouraged him to turn his hobby into a career. An English teacher then, Yetter was sent to Guatemala to teach English.
But when he arrived, he met a few guys trying to start a brewery. That meeting led to Yetter opening up his brewery in the country.
“I had too much fun in Guatemala,” he said.
Yetter said those years in Guatemala were a great experience personally, but they also showed him how to brew in a professional setting. Once he came back to Weld County, he worked at a liquor store in Eaton. After work, he spent time at Green Earth with Pell and one thing led to another.
Just like his days in Guatemala, Yetter anticipates having a lot of fun at his new brewery with regulars and soon-to-be-regulars. He said he’ll have a variety of drinks that could include mocktails. Yetter also plans on hosting live music on the patio of the new location.
With a few well-known breweries nearby, such as WeldWerks and TightKnit, Yetter said he can’t wait to join the downtown Greeley brewery family.
