World: January-September beer volume up in China, down in Germany and the US
Chinas January-September beer output is reported at 292.4 mln hl, plus 4.1% y/y, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their November report.
Germany produced 7.43 mln hl in September alone, minus 3.6%; the January-September production was 65.6 mln hl, minus 3.9% y/y. Intra-EU beer exports in January-September totalled 6.0 mln hl, minus 6.3%, the volume shipped to third countries was 6.5 mln hl, plus 14.5%.
Japans beer sales in September were down 21% from the same month in 2020, and down 30% from September 2019. Initial consequences of the changing liquor taxes: sales of 1st category beer showed a minus of 10%, happoshu (2nd category) plus 3%, 3rd category no-malt drinks were down 33%.
Russias beer sales increased by 2% in January-August y/y.
Ukraines January-August beer production volume totalled 12.24 mln hl, minus 4.7% y/y.
In the USA, September saw beer sales reach 14.8 mln bbls. (minus 5.1% y/y), January-September 129.4 mln bbls. (plus 0.8% y/y). Beer imports in August were 3.6 mln bbls. + 2.7% y/y; January-August import volume totalled 26.6 mln bbls., plus 14.7% y/y.
