Ukraine: January-August sees declines in beer and malt production
Ukraines beer production in January-August this year amounted to 12.24 mln hl 4.7% less than over the same period in 2020, Ukrpivo reported on September 15.
The nations malt output over the reporting period declined by 24.7% to 139,802 tonnes.
Previously, Ukraines brewers reported a drop in beer exports in June 2021 by 27.3% versus June 2020. Industry observers explain the decline by the introduction of individual licensing of Ukrainian beer by Belarus which is Ukraines main export destination for beer. Its two other priority markets Moldova and China jointly import the volume shipped to Belarus by Ukraine a year ago.
The nations beer imports increased to USD42.056 mln dollars in January-July 2021 from USD41.688 over the same period last year.
