Scandinavia & UK: Farmer liquidity low as barley harvest remains primary focus
Farmer liquidity is low in the Scandinavian countries and the UK as harvest remains the primary focus and this will continue to support prices until farmer selling increases, RMI Analytics said in their latest report.
In both markets, there have been enquiries regarding potential exports to North America in light of troubling crop conditions. If this business materializes, it will further support prices in both origins as brewers and maltsters will face increased pressure to secure malting quality barley.
Crop 2021 prices in the UK have moved up and are positioned at a small discount to France. Crop 2022 is down slightly due to strength in crop 2021.
Similar to the UK, Scandinavian nations crop 2021 prices are up with crop 2022 stable.
