North America: Regions malting capacity estimated at 2.15 mln tonnes
Total North America (the US, Canada and Mexico) malting capacity is 2.15 mln tonnes, RMI Analytics reports.
According to the analysts, the regions malting capacity will rebound in the next couple of years but at a slower pace, due to new builds for instance, Malteurops new plant in Mexico.
In 2021, North Americas malting capacity utilization is estimated to be above 95% due to capacity closures and continued growth in Mexico.
From a commercial maltster perspective, the market presence is a combination of global maltsters (Boortmalt, Malteurop, United Malt) and a strong regional presence (Rahr Malting). Total North America integrated brewer malting capacity is estimated at 1.5 mln tonnes.
