Finland: Viking Malt announces commencement of works on new malting house in Lahti
Malting firm Viking Malt Group announced on June 15 that work has commenced on a new, 90 million malting house in Lahti, Finland. A company release said a ceremony was held at the site to mark the placement of the facilitys foundation stone, powderbulksolids.com reported.
Slated to go into operation in 2023, the facility will have a capacity of about 85,000 tonnes/year. The company said the opening of the new plant provides an opportunity to implement new technology that will increase efficiency and offer environmental benefits.

Viking Malt serves the food, beverage and brewing industries. It currently has production assets across give countries, including Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Lithuania, and Poland, with a combined production capacity of 600,000 tonnes/annum. The firm employs 260 workers.
