World: World barley trade forecast increased to 31.252 mln tonnes
The forecast of world barley trade in 2021/22 has been increased to 31.252 mln tonnes this month from the March forecast of 30.801 mln tonnes, USDA reported on April 9.
Export forecast is up for the EU (+200 thousand tonnes to 7 mln) and Ukraine (+100 thousand tonnes to 4.3 mln) and down for Kazakhstan (-200 thousand tonnes to 1 mln).
Import forecast is up for China (+900 thousand tonnes to 9.2 mln) and Mexico (+150 thousand tonnes to 350 thousand) and down for Morocco (-600 thousand tonnes to 1 mln).
Barley trade in 2019/20 is estimated at 28.421 mln tonnes.
World barley production is forecast to reach 159.985 mln tonnes (159.465 mln in the March forecast, 156.695 mln in 2019/20).
Total barley consumption is seen at 159.903 mln tonnes (159.146 in the previous forecast, 154.479 in 2019/20) and ending stocks at 22.169 mln tonnes (20.308 and 22.087 mln tonnes, respectively).
