World: Barley market situation for 2006/2007
The main barley exporters are Australia, which is forecast by the IGC to export 3M tonnes in 2006/07, Ukraine (4Mt), EU-25 (3Mt), Russia (2.4Mt) and Canada (1.5Mt), according to HGCA, June 11.
Saudi Arabia is by far the largest barley importer, and is forecast to account for 5.5M tonnes, (35% of world trade).
China, Iran, Jordan and Syria have all steadily increased their barley imports in recent years.
