Brewing news Japan: Asahi Breweries, TOA unveil new tech to fight low-frequency noise

Asahi Breweries Ltd said it and audio equipment maker TOA Corp have developed equipment to reduce low-frequency noise, with the companies claiming that the equipment costs about 90% less than conventional solutions and takes up far less space, Japan Today published June 5. The two companies plan to commercialize the technology within two years with the aim of alleviating headaches and insomnia in people caused by low-frequency noise, the major beer producer said.

The new technology releases sound that neutralizes low-frequency noise just like conventional techniques. The major difference lies in the fact that the new equipment comes as one unit with a built-in microphone, speaker and central processing unit. In contrast, existing technologies require numerous speakers and take up floor space, a major impediment to popularizing low frequency sound-neutralizing devices.
