Barley news EU & UK: Decline in barley prices shows no signs of slowing down

The decline in prices shows no signs of slowing down, as Europe’s malting barley values continue their consistent and significant drop, RMI Analytics said in their latest report.

With Paris wheat futures dipping below the EUR190 mark, this downward trend is impacting malting barley, as grain markets are generally experiencing heaviness. With the harvest concluded in all regions except Scotland, it will be crucial to keep an eye on farmer liquidity, which could dry up at current price levels.

Prices in Denmark and the UK are also following the bearish tone and moving sharply lower for crop‘25, and pulling crop’26 down as well. In the UK, maltsters are reportedly buying ‘hand to mouth’ as old crop stocks are plentiful. Feed barley prices are holding a bit more steady as demand remains present.
