Argentina: Barley crop forecast at 5.2 mln tonnes as more rainfall received across southern Buenos Aires
Argentinas barley crop24 development is progressing as more rainfall was received across southern Buenos Aires province. This continued favourable situation aligns to RMI Analytics production forecast at 5.2 mln tonnes, the analysts said in their late November report.
Wheat harvest has begun in the north, and a record flow of wheat to port has taken place, indicating very good farmer selling.
At the moment, the barley crop remains rather green and lush, putting the full arrive of harvest to be in mid-December, but it is expected farmers will become active sellers at harvest (similar to wheat).
Prices for malting and feed barley are slightly lower on both FOB and FAS levels as harvest looms on the horizon. For crop24, buyers continue to make inquiries, and for feed barley the bid/offer gap is rather narrow, but the lack of farmer selling is a challenge. The last cargo of malting barley has loaded this week, and one feed cargo remains to ship, putting an end to crop23.
