Barley news Canada: Barley planting approaching 75% completion but wet conditions challenge the rest

Barley planting is approaching 75% completion in Canada and conditions have improved dramatically due to recent rains, although seeding the last 25% is a challenge under wet conditions, RMI Analytics said in their late May report.

Limited frost events have taken place but limited damage is expected. The analysts Canada barley crop 2024 forecast is up 0.3 mln tonnes to 9.9 mln this month.

Export prices are up for both malting and feed barley, in step with the price direction globally. Export demand is present for malting barley due to Aussie dryness. Domestic feed barley prices are also slightly on the rise.
