Poland: Beer production drops 4.3% in January-March this year
Polands beer production fell by 2.4% year-on-year to 2.74 million hectolitres in March 2024, according to data from the Central Statistical Office (GUS). In the first quarter of 2024, the volume brewed saw a 4.3% decrease year-on-year, reaching 7.4 million hectolitres, the Warsaw Business Journal reported on April 24.
However, production of pure vodka (converted to 100%) increased by 0.8% year-on-year to 63.43 thousand hectolitres in March. Despite this uptick, vodka production from January to March 2024 declined by 4.3% year-on-year, totaling 167.74 thousand hectolitres.
In contrast, non-alcoholic beer production decreased by 11.9% year-on-year to 213.13 thousand hectolitres in March. In the first quarter, non-alcoholic beer production dropped by 10.6% year-on-year to 442.39 thousand hectolitres.
Fruit wine production experienced a significant decrease, with a 25.1% drop year-on-year to 27.92 thousand hectolitres in March. Despite this decline, fruit wine production for the January-March 2024 period increased by 1% year-on-year to 112.99 thousand hectolitres.
