Brewing news Luxembourg: AB InBev inaugurates its Brasserie de Luxembourg in Diekirch

Brasserie de Luxembourg was inaugurated on March 15 by AB InBev brewery group (Anheuser-Busch InBev) in Diekirch (north-east Luxembourg), The Brussels Times reported.

Some 25 million euros had been injected into an extensive renovation programme. Operational since the beginning of the year, the brewery now has an annual capacity of 250,000 hectolitres, mostly for Diekirch and Mousel brands.

AB InBev property since 2002, Brasserie de Luxembourg has 54 workers. "The facilities meet the most modern standards in terms of energy efficiency and will brew more “sustainably”, by reducing the previous electricity consumption by 15% and water by 10%,” AB InBev stated.

Furthermore, this brewery has a filtration system that is "unique in Europe" in beer production: a membrane filter for filtration without any additive.

The Luxembourg beer market is dominated by Brasserie de Luxembourg and the National Brewery, located in Bascharage (south-west). The latter produced about 155,000 hectolitres last year.
