EU: Malting barley markets showing little activity since months

Malting barley markets have shown little activity since months, but tolerance agreements on quality specifications have added to available supplies and relaxed markets, H. M. Gauger GmbH reported earlier in December.

There is still quality barley available from France, although the intra-EU trade is severely hindered by an almost complete stoppage of river transportation.

Danish barley offers with higher proteins and English offers for shipment until March 2019 complete the present program. Markets have become weaker, but are still firmer than a year ago, the analysts said.
