Barley news Denmark: Barley export surplus seen at up to 1 mln tonnes

The export surplus of Denmark’s barley crop 2017 is seen at 0.9 to 1.0 mln tonnes, H. M. Gauger GmbH analysts reported in December.

Buy-backs of export contracts in November and early December are explained by unexpected quality problems, i.e. loss of germination, industry sources say.

Estimates are that Denmark sold 500 – 600,000 tonnes of barley as of early December, almost exclusively to Germany/Netherlands/Belgium.

Denmark and Sweden also sold about 150,000 tonnes of crop 2018 barley, it is reported.
